Chicken Salt is Australia’s favourite seasoning and can be used on anything from fish and chips, to popcorn, to, yes, chicken.
Originally created by the owner of a chicken shop in South Australia in the 1960s, Chicken Salt is ubiquitous across the country and freely available in supermarkets.
The seasoning gets its vibrant colouring from the addition of turmeric. To make it in larger quantities just double or triple the recipe.
INGREDIENTS
3 tablespoons of sea salt
1 teaspoon of onion salt
1 teaspoon of garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon of paprika
1 tablespoon of tumeric
1 cube of chicken stock
1 teaspoon of celery seeds
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl until mixed through.
2. Transfer to a spice or other jar to keep ready for seasoning.
